Chronology of cameras Ricoh
This camera was also known as the Myport Panorama 28W in Japan. It was released in April 1993, 4 months after the FF-10, and five years after the FF-9 (monkey). The range of shutter speeds is unknown, but the lowest is about 1 second..
In 1993 a compact camera with a 28 mm wide angle lens was unusual, but Ricoh must have liked the idea, because eighteen months later it released the much more expensive R1, with two wide angle lenses.(24/30 mm).
The date back is independently powered by a CR1025 battery located under the roller inside the back of the camera. With pocket size, a 28 mm lens, weather resistance, and a date back, this model was probably a little ahead of its' time. It sold for 28,000 yen on release in Japan.
